Episode 5: Future Casting
Series:
February 23, 2011
Predicting the future is a task assigned to the prophets, who had the ability to look past the boundaries of time and declare what would come in the future. As a boy of 17 Joseph dreamt of a future in which he would rule, dreams that would sustain him through betrayal, slavery and prison. Joseph forecasted Egypt’s economy decades in advance, and he predicted 14 years of agricultural yields. He foresaw nations coming to Egypt during a great famine, and he looked into the future possibilities so that Egypt could engage in required developments to bring the will of God to pass. Future Casting is insight into impending events and conditions which empower us to live with certainty in the present.

I’m in a church called New Horizons and we’re currently looking at the life of Joseph in Project Heritage.
I told my Project Heritage leaders how that now, after watching this, I realised that it wasn’t just a step by step guide to telling your master what he should do. It wasn’t just a book floating down on future trends and Joseph using that, acting like it ‘might be true’. What Joseph actually did was to listen to God saying what all of the dreams meant.
This episode has made a big impact on me.

I love the rehearsal of history in this Episode 5. Sometimes people hear 1923, 1895, etc. and they think “well, that was a long time ago” or “Those guys just didn’t know” implying, “and we do!” The distance of time from our lives to theirs removes our realization that they were living very real lives just like we do now. In reality these were the most respected, powerful voices inside of the Babylonian system of the day. I thought the use of the quotes was very powerful! It clearly demonstrates that all the collective wisdom of the world is insufficient in offering navigable guidance and insight into the future.

It is interesting to note that the Expert on Knowledge of the Future is actually admitting by saying “The future is a domain of uncertainty.. » This statement is true for those who are blind or depend on their own sight; but the good news is – God’s present day Prophets, just like the Prophets of the old, have access to God’s mind about what is to come. God also made a covenant with our fathers as in Genesis 19 and said “shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing… “. In fact, for God’s people the future is a domain of certainty of journeying towards Him. Thank you and I look forward to the next episode.

This “view of the future” given by God is the most accurate and trustworthy way to go in life becasue it allows us to make decisions based on where God is taking things. What we think is often wrong and not what God has prepared for us, so I think this episode 5 is very important and a very good teaching and I hope to see the next one. Thank you very much for this… “que Dios te Bendiga Scott”
